The development of ticketscript as a company has been quite extraordinary. I was always expecting it to end or at least stagnate; I have never worked for a company that has grown at such speed. But no matter how fast we’re growing, we’re also keeping up as a company in terms of communication and decision making. It’s now great to see an HR department – fully functional and supporting the business – and a marketing department going at full pace. And, of course, our commercial departments are still there doing what they’ve always done: bringing in the money.
If I look at Frans in his role as CEO, I see he has vision (and that’s an understatement). I even suspect Frans has a prophetic crystal ball that he has kept hidden from us. Ticketscript is still going strong, while other ticketing companies struggle and fail to develop into major players. I, for instance, saw the other Belgian companies mimicking us, copying everything that we do years later.
While away from ticketscript for two years, working for bigger companies, I really missed our fast-paced working environment. I’m quite restless and eager myself, so it was very hard to wait for a decision for a couple of days when you were used to working at ticketscript. In a year at ticketscript, a gazillion things can change and there are always positive evolutions. At other companies, things also changed – but it was never clear what the consequences would be. I simply missed our straightforward way of doing business and working with each other. The romper suit also helped…

ticketscript has always been an early adopter of new technology – from buying a mobile ticketing company at a time when mobile ticketing was far from standard, to being the first to integrate with Facebook and G+… when we saw an opportunity to improve our product, we grabbed it.
I think this is one of the main reasons why ticketscript has been able to grow from a tiny tech startup in Amsterdam to a 100+ employee company with offices in five countries in under 10 years. I feel very proud to have been a part of this success story from the early beginning.
Those years come with loads of great memories – but it’s the early years in our first office that really stand out to me. We had only one room in which the entire company was working, fully determined to conquer the ticketing market. Everyone was 100% focused on making ticketscript a big success, whether that was during office hours, after office hours at Café Orloff, or over the weekends at one of the many events. This startup mentality created an enormous buzz in our lives – and even after growing from a small family of 10 in one office to a ‘proper company’ with multiple offices, we’ve always been able to keep the original spirit of ticketscript alive.
Frans and Ruben have been our fearless leaders – showing the company the right path, not getting too distracted by short-term developments but always looking for the next big improvement. They had a clear vision on how to disrupt the ticketing industry by developing ticketscript…. and the result is where we are right now. A force to reckon with. "They must love it when a plan comes together." ;-)

You are my first and possibly last true love. I have experienced so much with you. We grew up together and developed our puppy love to a strong and solid relationship. You have made me a better man by showing me what is important, and you enabled me to develop my business and commercial toolkit.
We have had our ups and downs, but we always found our way – even when I left you for a younger, sexier company. You never left my heart and I quickly understood that it’s not about having the newest model. It is about passion. It is about doing something you actually care about.
And then 1 year ago you called me to ask how I was doing. If I had missed you. Even though I played hard to get, I was actually really happy you called. We’ve been back together for 9 months now and I think we can both say it was the right decision.
Let’s make this a ride we’ll remember.

I have one memory that really sticks out. It’s both good and bad, and involves Songkick. The short version is that a test event I was using to gather screenshots went live overnight and caused a media circus. I felt terrible – but the good thing about it was that Ruben called me during the day to reassure me (and then promptly set up a Google+ post to joke about it!). Later that night I spoke with Frans and he also joked with me. Looking back it was incredibly entertaining, but living it was not so good!
I think what stands out to me about Ruben is that he has always pushed ticketscript with his passion. Whether discussing Star Wars, Analytics or the latest Google gadget, Ruben has continuously demonstrated his passion and ability to converse with all. It shined when he breathed life into the very first ticketshop, and he has used that inspiration to continue the journey.
Frans has been our driving force – the engine behind our movement, our catalyst for commercial growth. I could never imagine turning a company from a handful of staff to selling 20 million tickets over the course of a decade. That in itself is inspiring.
Jesus - Sales Manager Spain
Started August 2011
From the day I started working at ticketscript, I started collecting memories. A few of them are really special.
The beginning of ticketscript Spain was in February 2011, when I was living in Berlin. One day, I met a sales manager from ticketscript – Christian Jansen. He talked about this really cool, young company that was growing fast and wanted to open a new market in Spain. In that moment the opportunity came to me, and here I am.
One of my best memories from this time is my very first year at the German office. There were only two heads working – and we didn’t even have the whole team in Berlin, but split across two cities. And then, after two years in the Berlin office, the company saw that it was the right moment to move to Barcelona, where I was born and raised.
Every year, ticketscript organises an amazing Christmas party, flying in colleagues from all countries. The most special party for me was the one with the New York Art Gallery theme in the Westergasfabriek, Amsterdam. This was the first year that the entire Spanish team attended; it made me feel really proud to have them all around me.
The greatest thing about working at ticketscript is that the story never ends. It’s a continuous challenge. If I look back to five and a half years ago, I would’ve never imagined what we’ve achieved in such a short period! Working here is almost like a school or university – we never stop learning new things from different cultures and different ways of living.

My favourite ticketscript party was the one in 2011 – surely the smallest Christmas party I’ve attended in my time here, which made it extra special.
A number of colleagues such as Chus and Ruben were performing as DJs, giving the party an outstanding personal note. I had just started at ticketscript, and since then I’ve always felt special when the company has asked for ideas to bring the business forward.
We’ve never lost sight of being creative and innovative. It’s great to be part of the next milestone.
Matt - COO - Chief Operations Officer

I joined 2 years ago (feels like longer). In that time we’ve grown our revenue by 40%. That is stunning and everyone here should know they’ve contributed towards that, regardless of your department. And without a doubt, it’s all about the people. I get to work with a group of super-dedicated and committed individuals who continually find ways to amaze me with how far they are willing to go to make this company a success.
It's a tough one, but hands-down my favourite ticketscript memory is standing in 30°C heat for 10 hours, dealing with customer issues at an entrance gate for Brighton Pride. I got to see the end result of everything we do – 50,000 people using our platform to have a fantastic day. It was a real “we did that” moment, seen from a perspective you simply don’t get when you sit in the office.
As for parties, The Tribe (2015) event was my favourite (of the two I've attended) – simply because of the level of detail and how immersive an experience it was. Everyone went to amazing efforts in getting their outfits together. And I ate a fried worm (bleugh!), which was new.

When I joined the business in the spring of 2009, ticketscript was still in its startup phase with a small motivated team of 15 in the heart of Amsterdam. Personally this was a very exciting time for me. It was my first full-time job, so I was at the start of my career and could hardly imagine how the company would develop.
What’s happened in the years since has been fantastic – it’s so exciting to think about all the successes and milestones we’ve celebrated together. I am proud to have witnessed the company grow incredibly fast to over 100 employees across five countries in Europe, and all together having sold tens of millions of tickets with our system. ticketscript is now one of the big players in the event-ticketing industry, and it’s amazing to realise that all those tickets belong to people who have enjoyed countless events.
A strong vision, leadership, and many individuals have come together to make ticketscript a success. It’s still incredible to be part of such a talented group of hardworking and dedicated people. Personally, I am very grateful for Frans and Ruben to have given me the many opportunities and continuous trust needed to develop myself into the person I am in today.
What I value most about my time at ticketscript has to be all the incredible interactions with colleagues, clients and other stakeholders. And then there’s the energy of unleashing the product in 2007 – this whole new efficient ticketing solution that the market had to be convinced of. We were the innovator and there was a thrill in those early years of promise.
What started as exploring the possibilities to generate extra revenue from advertising space for Beatfreax.com has now developed into the European market leader in self-service ticketing.
In 2007, the tradition of end-of-year parties started – I still have great memories of the Christmas dinner in December 2007 at Pont 13, and the 2008 dinner at Restaurant Fifteen in Amsterdam.

Moving to Silodam 402 was a real milestone – what an office! It marked our transition from a startup to a scaleup – and for that reason it's one of my best memories.
But ticketscript is a great story all-round – it's a 'jongensboek'. I strongly believe in Frans' vision and the drive of our people. Ideas and commitment are what makes ticketscript the best, and it makes sure that we keep on developing. Frans is a visionary with humor – while Ruben is the coolest nerd ever.
I like to go to work every day. Every day feels like a new opportunity to make this company bigger and better. And every day time flies.
Pablo - Account Manager Spain

Ticketscript is a company that is really innovating in the industry – it makes promoters realise how important it is to take control of their events and how valuable their data is. I think ticketscript represents a breath of fresh air in an industry full of old-school companies. To be a part of this makes me feel happy and motivated.
I think both Frans and Ruben have a great knowledge of the industry, while at the same time have been visionaries by launching this idea. But the best thing has been the atmosphere, the team work, and the challenge of being a part of a fast-growing company that's making an impact on a very competitive industry.

For any business to reach a 10-year milestone is a great achievement. To be profitable so soon after receiving such a large investment round is also a great achievement.
Through it all Frans has been indomitable. He's a trailblazer, and his energy and pace is infectious. Watching him perform the haka at the 2015 Christmas party is probably my favourite ticketscript memory!
The best thing about working here has been the team of people around me, and being able to have played a small role in turning the UK towards profitability.

The Christmas party in the church is my favourite ticketscript memory. We had a great night… which ended in me tripping and hitting my head. Ariving at the office the next day with a wound on my forehead (in my third month with the company) got quite a few laughs. At each drink or party after that for about a year everyone told me to take it easy…
The best thing about working here has been seeing the products you've worked on being used by thousands of event organizers and millions of ticket buyers – getting to see the ideas in your head used in real life.
Frans is a CEO with a razor-sharp analytical mind. He recognises the priorities at all times, while keeping an eye for the little details that are off across the entire dashboard and shop. This works perfectly with Ruben who always wants to build the coolest features we can, pushing the borders of what is possible with technology.
After getting to know Ruben in the beatfreax age 10 years ago, it was very nice to meet again in a professional environment. It's very cool to have become a part of this great success story, and to still meet each other in the middle of the dance floor years later!

I was away for four years. When I left we had approx 15 employees in NL and DE. When I came back we had almost 100. Like everything that grows fast, the company had some stretch marks, but the good thing is that we are working towards a smooth surface.
Back in the day (2007), we did everything ourselves. Serving clients, acting as coordinators, 24-hour help desks… and flex working hours? No way! We worked 24/7. Awake, asleep, sober, drunk, from 020 to 010 up to 058 down to 043. Everyone from Frans to the intern!
Wiets - HR Administrator

10 years ticketscript! I feel such pride thinking of those early days, I remember it so well... that first New Year's Eve we all spent together at our house. Celebrating a bit and working a lot. It was the evening of Awakenings and tickets were sold through our system. We were excited and terrified in equal measure. Would it all go smoothly? You guys went out to personally scan the tickets that night, as we didn't have the luxury of entrance coordinators yet. Start of a new company, start of a great adventure! I have had the pleasure of living through this with you and have seen it grow into an amazing company.
My favourite memory is of our time living in London. In 2010 we acquired Trinity Mobile and opened up an office in London. With our kids we spent two years there, and I had an opportunity to work with the UK team. I loved this time; a new office, different people and a different culture, such a great experience!
And then... the amazing parties. I look forward to these all year long, and each year they get even better! T.A.G. was the best! I can't wait for this year's party, so excited.
Frans and Ruben, what an amazing achievement! Be proud (I am!) and all the best for the future ;-)

It has been almost 7 years ago when I started at ticketscript. Never has working at this company felt like routine. Every day / week / year is different. It remains a big adventure and I feel very fortunate to be part of this. And I believe we have Frans and Ruben to thank for this dynamic environment. They both constantly have their eyes on the ball. They never lose sight of the things that matter, the things that bring the company forward. True entrepreneurs, side shows are not part of the agenda. This has always stayed a part of the DNA of the company. I love this, I could not work in any other way. Although there was a moment where I thought I would be happier somewhere else….
Once, a few years ago, I decided to leave the company. I had the feeling that I couldn't grow more in my sales role, so I decided to look elsewhere. I even signed a contract at another company and resigned at ticketscript. Two weeks before I left I had a conversation with Frans on something completely not sales related: Human resources within ticketscript. I think we talked for an hour on this and at the end of that meeting we shook hands and we both agreed that setting up the HR department for ticketscript would be my next project. I never started at the other company and stayed within ticketscript. A new adventure has begun. I want to thank Frans in particular for the chance that he has given me back then and the trust I got through the years.
Frans, Ruben - I know you guys do not like to look back (but rather forward), but please take a moment to enjoy this milestone. Ten years ticketscript, look at where you guys are now. Congratulations.

An absolute milestone for me was the moment we migrated our first client to the new ticketshop. It was a bumpy road getting to that one moment, and I really enjoy seeing how it keeps evolving into what is right now a fantastic "hyper" responsive ticketshop :)
I think the development of ticketscript as a company has always been at a fast pace and always will be. Having worked here for not even three years and getting to witness an investment, a rebuild of the entire ticketshop, growing into a bigger office, expanding to other countries, releasing Flow and more is testament to that.
Working closely with Frans and Ruben on a daily basis has really shown me what entrepreneurship is about. Both have their different ways of looking at things, but with the same goal – I think that difference is what makes people enjoy working for ticketscript :)

There have been a lot of great parties, but as for the best? I'm really not certain between last year's Christmas party (with the great karaoke on the bus) and the Festive Friday Mokum Edition. Both were fun events with a lot of interaction between colleagues that normally don't sit together. Loved them!
The best thing is that you can learn so much from your colleagues who are in different (or even in the same) departments. For example, I have learnt an awful lot these past two years about reg ex, html, excel, commercial tactics, negotiating, and so on.

I have so many great memories upto now. From taping Toby to a chair and painting his face with nail varnish to explaining how to play 'Snog, Marry, Avoid' to Frans at the Tribe party and Shane taking his shirt off at the summer party...
What I love about my job is my amazing UK team, plus getting to work with all these great music festivals and promotors.

I have a lots of great ticketscript memories. For instance, I was very proud when I was closing one of my first clients, Eat! Berlin Festival. And then there's watching our solution running smoothly at the entrance of Stil vor Talent. Working with Jägermeister was also particularly exciting; it was great to see our shop integrated with the homepage of one of the world's most famous liquor brands, while learning from their high level of professionalism.
My favourite party was the T.A.G. Chirstmas party – I was very impressed how much effort and detail was put into this event.

I could go on about the amazing parties, team days out, events, etc – but the one memory that sticks out in my mind is the morning after the colour couture Christmas bash.
My return flight was at 9am. I woke up at 8am with the worst headache and many missed calls and text messages. I was out of the room in around 28 seconds. I did not have time to check out. The taxi drive was AMAZING. We jumped several red lights, overtook, undertook and broke the speed limit on a number of occasions. As we parked up I then realised that I had no money. He was very kind and said, "Hey, no problem, hope you make the flight". I, however, could not let this happen. As we both ran through the airport – me sweating copious amounts of alcohol and the very unfit driving struggling to keep up – we eventually arrived at security. I pushed my way straight to the front and flashed my passport at the security guard. Finally air-side, I found a cash point, withdrew money and proceeded to run straight back through the security check point (the guards were not pleased but could do nothing) and back through the crowd. I found my driver, threw him 50 euro and a high five. The passengers and security guards could only watch on in shock as I ran back through the security check point shouting "IT'S ONLY ME!". I then run as fast as my wobbly legs could take me towards the gate. I eventually arrived to a huge cheer from the team as boarding began.
Joking aside, I had a very important boozy lunch in London at 2pm that day which I never would've made if it wasn't for the team. Their ongoing mobile travel updates and encouragement are the only reason I made it through this difficult journey. I simply would not have made it without them. And that is what I call a team effort #teamwork #flymore #neverdrinkingagain #maybeoncemore

There has only been one end of year party that I have attended, but it was an impressive affair. The tribal theme was great and it was a great introduction into the company.
For me, the best thing about working at ticketscript is definitely the people. We've got a great bunch of people in the UK office which makes coming to work a pleasure.

I have so many great memories from working here over the past few years but I'd have to say that the Christmas parties have been absolutely epic so have created my most memorable occasions. Both have been equally spectacular with amazing attention to detail and creativity. I love the surprise element of them and how we are all kept guessing right up until the last second. I can't wait for the next one!
I remember visiting the Amsterdam office for the first time and being blown away by how awesome and inspiring it was. I also have great memories from the first week when I joined where I received warm welcome emails from so many people across the company. I've never worked anywhere where the CEO welcomes you personally and coworkers both locally and internationally made such an effort to make you feel part of the team.
Since I've been at ticketscript we have constantly been developing and evolving which has made it a very inspiring place to be and exciting journey to be part of. I love how we are all able to bring new ideas to the table and help be a part of the evolution of our product and processes. I'm excited to see what the future holds.
I have found both Frans and Ruben to be truly inspiring to work for and with. I think it's great how approachable they are and willing to listen to new ideas that I've had. I've appreciated all the positive recognition and opportunities they have given me over my past two years here and hope to help them achieve continues success. I really admire what they have created here at ticketscript and am very proud to be part of the journey.
I love our open culture of idea sharing and encouragement of entrepreneurial flair. I've thoroughly enjoyed being part of helping develop our product and processes and having the opportunity to exercise my creative side. We have so many awesome people across our territories who are supportive, encouraging and collaborative so it's been a real pleasure to work with them all.

During my time at ticketscript I gathered so many fantastic memories and I genuinely loved travelling to the different offices every week - witnessing everyone's commitment to the cause. The different teams I worked with made my job a constant pleasure. The people at ticketscript are great and everybody genuinely want to do the best for the business. Fantastic people, with drive, enthusiasm and a good sense of fun! I’ve learned a lot about the cultural differences yet realising we are all pretty similar really.
And the parties… I attended many great parties, but every year during the Christmas party I did the same thing; bundling various members of staff into taxis (before they did something too ridiculous). My favorite party was probably the 2013 Christmas Party - I saw dance moves that year that I still wake up sweating about and it was the infamous '' ball grabbing '' party :-)
Just some of the individual memories that stand out include:
Reinout's bad English stories (including his friend ''the horse breeder''),
Marching in a boiler suit with Frans to a jail cell (don't ask),
Standing in the middle of a dance floor with a wine glass at a Berlin hip hop party,
There are so many more - but I'm aware of the '' what goes on tour, stays on tour '' rule :-)
In the years that I worked at ticketscript, the company became more organised and process driven, yet we managed to stay entrepreneurial. Experienced different types of team members joining who added to a truly special and unique team ethic. I would describe Frans as a straightforward, driven and determined CEO - although doesn't know how to tie a bow tie! :-). Ruben is an amazing, approachable guy with a good sense of humour. Any chance of that Seating Map yet? ;-)
